I remember hearing something about a 40k version also, but it is a long ways away.

yep since with your army table and rules seem to get up around $500-$2000 and thats not including all the paint and time you have to put into putting the dame things together. Not to mention the trips to the hospital because everyone gets board and bad things happen when your board and have supper glue.

I very much doubt they will pull off a 40k mmo, though I wish them all the best. My guess is it will turn into everyone going Space Marine because, well, they're Space Marines. And Space Marines aren't the type of force that's going to party up and go hunt for money with an Eldar Ranger and a Rogue Trader.
The only way they can really do it is not letting you play the main militaristic forces, making you play something like Rogue Traders, Eldar Pirates and even Orks to a lesser degree, while still interacting with the main militaristic forces.

Maybe you could be a Deathwatch Space Marine? Or part of an Inquisitors retinue?
Besides... probably half the table top armies are Space Marines anyway! LoL
Futuristic MMOs haven't had a good track record, although I hope they make it work.

They could do it like the one that they are working on. Empire (includes Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Daemon Hunters, Witch Hunters, Alien Hunters), Eldar, Tau Empire vs Chaos Space Marine, Dark Eldar, Orks, Necrons, Tyranids. It could work but in some cases they might have to rewrite some of the lore or add on to it to include various peace treaties.
